On the Road to the Ballot Box

In 2017 I began traveling around the country to volunteer on political campaigns. I was concerned about the state of our democracy and rather than complain, I knew I had to do something. I traveled first to Birmingham, Alabama for the Doug Jones Senate campaign, knocking on the doors of strangers. I felt my country was dialing 911 and I had no choice but to answer and do whatever I could to save it. From Alabama I traveled to Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., The people I met restored my faith in our democracy. Along the way, I created a visual sketchbook of the people I met and the places I saw.
